4 Tips to improve your communication skills

The building block for any relationship is communication. Communication is the process by which information is exchanged between individuals through a common system of symbols, signs, or behavior. Here’re 4 tips to improve your communication skills:

  1. SPEAKING is the first component of effective communication. As an effective communicator, it is important to develop your speaking skill continuously. When you speak, be sure that you have something worth saying and say it clearly.

  1. LISTENING is the second component in effective communication. I recommend that you listen twice before speaking. King Salomon stated, “He who answers a matter before he hears it, It is folly and shame to him” (Proverbs 18:13). There is a reason why we have two ears and one mouth. Perhaps, God wants us to listen twice before we speak.

  1. OBSERVING is the third component of effective communication. It is important to be an active observer by taking notes and showing interest on what the speaker is saying. This is a great way to pick up non-verbal cues from a speaker. This critical as 80% of communication is non-verbal. When you observe and listen attentively to a speaker, you can pick up what’s being said and what’s implied quickly and easily.

  1. WAITING is the fourth component of effective communication. It is a virtue of patience. The willingness to wait for your turn to speak shows maturity and respect for a speaker.

Communication is a process and a skills that can that can be developed with training and practice. We all can continue to improve in our communication skills. To improve your communication skills, practice the tips above.

Hi Heather! I have a couple quick sugngstioes for you. First, get plenty of rest, 8-10 hours of uninterrupted sleep is imperative. Next, eat plenty of fresh, raw fruits and vegetables. Fresh carrot juice is particularly good for you and baby, and taste even better if you add a Gala or Fugi apple to it. Then, steer clear of fried foods and sweets. I know that we are tempted to attribute all of our pregnancy indulgences on cravings, but try to limit yourself as much as possible, you will be thankful once the pregnancy is over and you no longer have anyone else to blame for your bad habits. Lastly, get out and move. Take several walks a day time permitting. That should help you develop a few good habits to continue after the little bundle of joy arrives. Happy Babying!!
