The Psychology of Success

All the success, joy and happiness that you desire are within your reach!  And this process begins in your mind.  Your thinking determines your feelings, actions and results.  Here are 6 steps to apply the Psychology of Success to achieve your goals:

STEP 1:  GET TO KNOW YOURSELF: Get to know who you are, discover your strengths, your weaknesses and your interests, passions and values. Before you can change anything, you must first learn it.

STEP 2:  BELIEVE IN YOURSELF: You must believe that you have the choice, the responsibility and the power to transform your life. You must believe that you can renew your mindset by first replacing the unwanted thinking or fixed mindset with positive or growth mindset. You can start by controlling what goes into your mind. You can introduce yourself with new learning to replace the old conditioning. You can hire a life coach, read inspirational books, articles; watch inspirational videos that build your faith.

Over time, whatsoever you focus on, you will become. If you heed to positive learning, you will become positive. Positive focus gives birth to positive results. As you continue to adopt a positive mindset, you will be empowered to take on the challenges of life more effectively; learn from your setbacks and try again; hear criticism and act accordingly.

STEP 3:  TAKE CARE YOURSELF.  When you take great care of your body, it also affects your entire life, your soul and your spirit.  It is important to sleep 8 hours/day and eat 3 balanced meals/day and snacks in between each meal.  One of the best ways to change your thinking is to keep on moving.  Ways to keep your body in regular motion are through physical exercises like walking, swimming and playing any sort of sport.  Here’s an exercise to instantly change your state of mind.  RUB your hands as fast as you can and CLAP as hard as you can.

In addition, regular total body cleanses and fasting has great health benefits. With a total body cleanse, be sure to consult your health care provider.  If your budget permits, hire a physical coach and a nutritionist to help you achieve your fitness gets.  If not, still write your own physical fitness plan and take action toward your goal. You can start with walking 30 minutes/day 3 times/week.

STEP 4:  COMMIT TO CONTINUOUS GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT.  You must develop an environment that fosters high standards for continued education, growth and development. Avoid spending much time with negative people who have no interest in personal and professional development. This means to choose your friends and associates wisely. “Choose your friends wisely-they will make or break you.” (J. Willard Marriott)

STEP 5:  PLAN FOR YOUR SUCCESS.  You must develop a written plan with specific strategies to obtain and maintain your goals. Successful people often have specific goals, plans and teams to achieve their dreams. “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!” (Benjamin Franklin).

STEP 6: GIVE BACK.  Giving back is a great way to continue in the path of success, joy and happiness. It gives you an opportunity to make a difference and to discover significance. Your success is a team sport.  If you want to keep success around, discover the joy of giving. “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.” (Zig Ziglar)

Posted by on December 08, 2011 at 1:36 pm Hi Donna,I like the way you discriminate bweeten responsibility for things and responsibility for oneself. You are also right on with the distinction bweeten being in control of others and being in control of oneself. It seems to be easier trying to control others (people and circumstances) than really controlling the only person we are truly in charge of. It’s a very well disguised excuse not to deal with oneself and not to take that good look into the mirror. It’s all bout being able to respond (responsibility) rather than just reacting to circumstances and people the way we were conditioned. Thanks for sharing your insights.Be blessedOliverOliver Tausend recently posted..
